 Help Needed
We are a very small club facing an increasingly commercial sports environment. Recently, we have been asked to pay up to US $850 a year to use the field where we used to train on week-ends. Tournaments have also become expensive to organize as pitch owners demand increasingly higher fees to house the events.
We have no coach, except
for the transient pro player who somehow finds out about us and
joins us for a few weeks or months until she or he returns to her/his
home country.
And as said above, we have no income, as most players are young students who can hardly afford to make ends meet to pay for school or university fees, so sports-for-a-fee is simply not an option for them. And to get an idea of the standard of living in this country, the average Ugandan makes no more than $25 a month, having running water and electricity at home remains the privilege of a few, nearly half of the population is illiterate, and fewer still ever complete their secondary (high) school education.
We are therefore looking
for sponsors, coaches, official ultimate disks, t-shirts and other
ways to improve our young club performance and image. Right now,
our main challenge is to fundraise sufficient money to pay for our
tournaments. Our fundraising target is US $5,000 (five thousand)
a year to cover training and tournaments. Our current operating
budget is about $500 (five hundred).
